Iranian Officials Miss Pre-World Cup Football Events in Canada

Iranian Football Federation Representatives Absent from AFC Congress

Representatives from Iran’s football federation were not present at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Congress, which took place in Vancouver. The event was attended by FIFA President Gianni Infantino and featured discussions among Asia’s top football leaders.

According to reports, concerns were raised about potential visa issues affecting the Iranian delegation’s ability to attend both the AFC Congress and the upcoming FIFA Congress on Thursday. However, it was announced that Iran would receive commemorative gifts once they arrived at the events.

Iranian government officials had previously stated that the national team was preparing for its World Cup games in the United States. The FIFA governing body has maintained that Iran will adhere to the scheduled game schedule, which was decided last December.

The 48-team tournament is being hosted by the US, Canada, and Mexico, with Iran set to face Belgium, New Zealand, and Egypt in Group G. Team Melli’s planned training camp is scheduled to take place in Tucson, Arizona, before opening its World Cup campaign against New Zealand on June 15 in Inglewood, California.

The Iranian team will play Belgium on June 21 and Egypt on June 26 in the final group match in Seattle. The FIFA Congress and World Cup are set to commence on June 11.
