Irans attacks on Gulf states damage Kuwaits power and water plants

Kuwait Experiences Drone Attacks on Power Plants and Oil Complexes

Reports emerged of drone attacks targeting power plants and an oil complex in Kuwait, resulting in fires that were quickly extinguished. The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy confirmed that two power and water desalination plants were damaged, causing a significant outage at the facilities.

The attack also sparked a fire at the Shuwaikh Oil Sector Complex, with reports indicating “significant damage” to a government office complex. Kuwait’s national oil company, Bapco Energies, stated that an oil tank caught fire following the Iranian attack but reported no injuries and are assessing the damage.

Bahrain also experienced an attack on Sunday, with an oil tank at one of its storage facilities catching fire due to an Iranian drone strike. The blaze was extinguished by civil defence crews. Bahrain’s Ministry of the Interior had previously reported a fire in the facility without specifying where it occurred.

In addition, authorities in Abu Dhabi responded to several fires that broke out at the Borouge petrochemical plant, caused by falling debris from an interception. Operations at the plant have been suspended pending a damage assessment.

Saudi Arabia also intercepted missiles early on Sunday, with reports indicating that Iran has targeted US military bases and assets in the region. Gulf countries have borne the brunt of Iranian attacks since February 28, with Kuwait being one of the countries most affected.
