Iran’s FIFA World Cup preparations appear to be on track, according to social media posts from Team Melli’s official account. The team has posted videos showing players participating in a photo shoot for their potential home kit and training sessions at an undisclosed location.
The squad is set to reveal their tournament kit soon, with several members of the team, including goalkeeper Alireza Safar Beiranvand and winger Milad Mohammadi, seen wearing new kits in recent social media posts. The Team Melli account has also posted photos from training sessions held in Iran before the team travels to Turkiye for three friendly matches.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino has confirmed that Iran will play their games in the United States, as previously stated. Trump later expressed his support for the team’s participation in the tournament. Iranian football officials have outlined the team’s training and preparations, which include camps at home and in neighboring Turkiye before traveling to the US.
The team’s assistant coach, Saeed Alhoei, has announced that the first phase of their preparation period will end with an intra-team game on Wednesday. The squad will depart for Turkie on Monday for their final leg of preparations before traveling to the US in June. Team Melli will play three friendly matches, including one against New Zealand and another against Belgium.
However, Iran suffered a significant blow after winger Ali Gholizadeh suffered a season-ending knee injury while playing for his club Lech Poznan in Poland. The team’s participation in the tournament was initially uncertain due to concerns about safety, but recent statements from FIFA officials have reaffirmed their involvement.
