Gaza City Sees Multiple Fatalities in Drone Strikes, Limited Medical Evacuations Resume
At least three Palestinians have been killed in Israeli drone strikes in Gaza City, according to reports from al-Shifa Hospital. The attacks occurred in the Zeitoun neighborhood and another area of eastern Gaza City.
Separately, a drone strike also injured one person and wounded another in the same region. The Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported that eight Palestinians who were injured in Israeli attacks during the Gaza war would be allowed into Egypt for medical treatment through the reopened Rafah border crossing.
The strikes took place as part of Israel’s ongoing military operation in Gaza, which has resulted in over 72,000 deaths, including tens of thousands of children and women. The true number of fatalities may be higher, according to some independent researchers.
On Thursday, a limited group of wounded Palestinians was evacuated from Gaza via the Rafah crossing after a 19-day closure by Israel. The Palestinian Red Crescent Society stated that only eight injured Palestinians would be allowed into Egypt for medical treatment, along with 17 family members. Several ambulances were seen waiting to evacuate patients from the territory.
The Rafah border crossing had been closed since early February as part of a ceasefire agreement, which was later violated by Israel. The crossing has since reopened for limited medical evacuations, allowing Palestinians to receive medical treatment in Egypt.
