Multiple Air Strikes Hit Beirut Neighborhoods, Displacement Continues
Israeli air attacks have targeted three neighborhoods in southern Beirut, according to reports from the Lebanese National News Agency (NNA). The strikes occurred on Tuesday morning, with two air raids targeting the Kafaat and Haret Hreik areas of the capital city. A third strike hit a residential apartment building in the Doha Aramoun area.
The Ministry of Public Health reported that an Ethiopian woman was wounded in the strikes. Israel has confirmed carrying out the attacks, stating they were targeting Hezbollah military infrastructure.
According to the Health Ministry, at least 886 people have been killed and 2,141 others injured since the start of the renewed fighting with Iran-aligned Hezbollah. Over one million people have registered as displaced since March 2, with many taking refuge in collective shelters.
The Israeli army has issued evacuation warnings for southern Lebanon, covering an area of over 40km from its border to the north of the Litani River. Defense Minister Israel Katz has stated that displaced Lebanese will not be able to return home “south of the Litani area” until the safety of residents in northern Israel is guaranteed.
Hezbollah has also been involved in clashes with Israeli forces on the border and in several frontier towns, including direct confrontations in Khiam. The group has fired an average of 100 rockets into Israel daily, according to reports from Ramallah.
Talks over southern Lebanon are ongoing, with some sources suggesting they may start soon. However, military officials have expressed interest in using these talks as a framework for a potential withdrawal from the region.
