Israeli Attacks in Southern Lebanon Result in Fatalities
Reports from Lebanese state media and authorities indicate that Israeli forces have carried out attacks in southern Lebanon, resulting in at least four fatalities. According to the National News Agency (NNA), an apartment in a residential building in the northern district of Sidon was struck by Israeli forces on Sunday, killing one person and causing a fire.
In another area, three people were killed in an Israeli attack in the village of al-Qatrani, according to the Ministry of Health. The Israeli military has stated that it continues to target infrastructure used by Hezbollah, with several “launch sites” destroyed in al-Qatrani. Additionally, the army claims to have destroyed “command centres” belonging to Hezbollah’s Radwan Force in Beirut.
The Israeli army has also issued forced evacuation orders for residents in several neighborhoods in Beirut, citing alleged Hezbollah activities in the area. The army spokesman, Avichay Adraee, warned that anyone present near Hezbollah facilities or personnel would be targeted.
Hezbollah has responded by targeting several Israeli troop positions in villages close to the border. According to the Health Ministry, at least 826 people have been killed in Lebanon since the start of the latest war on March 2.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has proposed negotiations with Israel, while Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar stated that direct talks are not planned for the coming days. However, French President Emmanuel Macron and United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres have expressed support for negotiations to prevent further escalation of the conflict.
