Israeli Opposition Leader Yair Lapid Supports Territorial Expansion Based on Zionist and Biblical Foundations
In a recent news conference, Yair Lapid, the main opposition leader in Israel, stated that his views on territorial expansion are rooted in Zionist and biblical principles. According to Kipa News, Lapid expressed support for a large, broad, strong land for the Jewish people, as well as a safe haven for future generations.
Lapid attributed his stance to the biblical foundations of Zionism, stating that the mandate over the land of Israel is based on biblical borders. He also mentioned that there are certain “Israeli security and policy considerations” that may impact such efforts, but did not elaborate further.
US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee recently made comments suggesting broad Israeli control over the region, drawing criticism from regional leaders and prompting questions about the US stance on the matter. In an interview with Tucker Carlson, Huckabee stated that he supports the idea of Israel claiming a territory spanning between the Euphrates River in Iraq and the Nile River in Egypt.
The Saudi Arabian Foreign Ministry described Huckabee’s comments as “extremist rhetoric” and called for clarification from the United States. A spokesperson for the US Embassy clarified that there is no change to US policies on Israel, stating that Huckabee’s comments were taken out of context.
