Israeli settlers involved in fatal incident in occupied West Bank village

Israeli Settlers Kill Palestinian Man in West Bank Raid

A Palestinian man, Ali Majed Hamadneh, 23, has been killed during a raid on Deir Jarir village in the occupied West Bank. According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, Hamadneh was brought to the Palestine Medical Complex in critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries.

The incident occurred when settlers opened fire during a raid on the western entrance of Deir Jarir, targeting residents in the area. The Palestinian official news agency Wafa reported that “armed colonists, under the protection of Israeli forces, attacked Deir Jarir from its western entrance and opened fire toward residents in the area.”

The raid took place just days after Israel approved 34 new settlements in the West Bank, which has been condemned by various international organizations. The Palestinian Presidency’s office, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and the European Union have expressed concerns over the move, citing violations of international law.

This incident is part of a recent surge in violence in the West Bank, which has seen an increase in deadly attacks by Israeli settlers since the United States-Israel war on Iran began at the end of February. The Palestinian authorities and the United Nations have noted this trend.

In related news, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government has approved at least 102 settlements since taking power in 2022. All Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank are considered illegal under international law.
