Israeli Strikes Continue in Southern Lebanon Despite Extended Ceasefire

Israel Launches Air Strikes on Southern Lebanon Amid Ceasefire Extension

A series of air strikes was reported in southern Lebanon yesterday, despite a 45-day ceasefire extension agreed upon by Israel and Lebanon earlier that day. The National News Agency (NNA) confirmed strikes on at least five villages in the region.

The Israeli military issued new forced displacement orders for nine villages near Sidon and Nabatieh, including Qaaqaaiyet, al-Snoubar, Kaouthariyet al-Saiyad, and others. Air attacks were also reported on the town of Yohmor al-Shaqif, while heavy artillery bombardment targeted the towns of Kfar Tebnit and Arnoun.

According to NNA, Israeli warplanes launched air strikes on several areas in southern Lebanon, targeting “Hezbollah infrastructure sites”. The Lebanese presidency welcomed the 45-day extension of the truce with Israel, stating that it would provide critical breathing space for citizens and advance a pathway toward lasting stability.

However, reports from Al Jazeera indicated that the ceasefire has not brought significant respite to residents in southern Lebanon. Artillery strikes were reported in the eastern part of the country, prompting concerns about further escalation.

The conflict between Israel and Lebanon has resulted in over 2,900 deaths since its start, including more than 500 since the truce took effect, according to Lebanese authorities.
