Israeli Troops Kill 14-Year-Old Palestinian Boy in Occupied West Bank
A 14-year-old Palestinian boy, Mohammed Naasan, was shot and killed by Israeli troops in the occupied West Bank on Friday. According to reports, Israeli forces stormed the village of al-Mughayyir near Ramallah and opened fire, fatally shooting Naasan in the back and chest.
The incident occurred amid a wave of intensified Israeli military and settler violence across the territory. Earlier that day, Israeli settlers under army protection had stormed an area south of al-Mughayyir and fired live rounds, according to Palestinian news agency Wafa.
The Israeli military has stated that Naasan was killed because he was “running towards them carrying a rock”. The killing is part of a pattern of violence against Palestinians in the West Bank, which has been exacerbated by Israel’s genocidal war against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip since October 2023.
According to UN figures, at least 240 Palestinians, including 55 children, were killed by Israeli forces or settlers last year alone. The UN’s humanitarian office (OCHA) reported that over 1,800 settler attacks resulted in casualties or property damage in 2025, with an average of about five incidents per day.
Israeli human rights group BTselem has documented the military’s “open-fire policy”, which allows for the unjustified use of lethal force. Defence for Children International-Palestine (DCI-P) has also reported on the heightened risk of Israeli violence faced by Palestinian children in the West Bank, citing a lack of accountability and impunity for such incidents.
