Humanitarian Group Reports Restrictions on Aid Supplies in Gaza
Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has confirmed that Israel continues to restrict the delivery of essential shelter supplies to the war-torn Gaza Strip. The group stated that despite freezing winter temperatures, babies are suffering from severe cold due to inadequate shelter conditions.
MSF reported that displaced Palestinian families are living in makeshift shelters across the enclave, facing torrential rain and heavy winds while receiving limited aid. Israel has blocked or delayed the entry of vital supplies such as tents, tarpaulins, and temporary housing.
The situation is further complicated by a United States-brokered ceasefire agreement, which stipulates that Israel must allow 600 aid trucks into the enclave daily. However, despite international condemnation and calls from the UN to increase supply access, Israel has maintained its restrictions on aid delivery.
In addition, Israel revoked the operating licenses of 37 aid groups, including MSF and the Norwegian Refugee Council, for failing to comply with new regulations requiring detailed information on staff members, funding, and operations. MSF described this move as a “cynical attempt” to prevent organizations from providing services in Palestine.
The Gaza Strip has been experiencing severe weather conditions, with hundreds of thousands of Palestinian families forced to shelter in ill-equipped tent encampments or makeshift shelters due to home destruction caused by Israel’s military assault. According to the latest figures from the Palestinian Health Ministry, at least 424 Palestinians have been killed and 1,199 wounded since October 11.
The situation remains dire, with aid groups continuing to face challenges in delivering essential supplies to those in need.
