Al Jazeera Forum to Discuss Gaza Governance After Four-Month Ceasefire
The 2023 edition of the Al Jazeera Forum in Doha will focus on the governance of Gaza, four months into a ceasefire agreement. Delegates will examine the power shifts resulting from Israel’s military actions in the region.
A new committee of technocrats is expected to be established to oversee Gaza’s administration. The committee will be supervised by the Board of Peace, which has been formed with US President Donald Trump at its helm.
The forum will feature a panel discussion with experts Mustafa Barghouti, general secretary of the Palestinian National Initiative; Abdullah Al Shayji, professor of international relations and political science at Kuwait University; and Ziad Majed, professor of Middle Eastern studies at The American University of Paris.
The discussion aims to explore the prospects for success of the new governance structure. The forum will provide a platform for delegates to share their insights on the challenges and opportunities facing Gaza’s administration.
The Al Jazeera Forum is an annual event that brings together experts and policymakers to discuss regional issues. This year’s edition is expected to shed light on the complexities of Gaza’s governance and the implications of Israel’s actions in the region.
