Israeli Prosecutors Plan to Indict Settler Yinon Levi
A court hearing has been scheduled for settler Yinon Levi, who is accused of manslaughter in connection with the death of Palestinian Awdah Hathaleen. The indictment comes after a video recording surfaced showing Levi firing his gun at locals during an altercation in Umm al-Khair.
Hathaleen’s brother, Khalil Hathaleen, has expressed support for the prosecution’s plan to indict Levi. In a statement, he described the development as “welcome news”.
Levi was involved in an incident where he allegedly fired his gun at locals who were protesting against him. The video footage shows Levi firing his gun wildly after being confronted by the crowd.
According to reports, Levi has been charged with manslaughter in connection with Hathaleen’s death. However, Khalil Hathaleen stated that a charge of manslaughter “does not rise to the level of the crime”.
The incident occurred in Umm al-Khair, where tensions between locals and settlers have been reported in recent days. The Israeli authorities have confirmed that Levi will face charges related to the altercation.
A court hearing has been scheduled for Levi, where he will face the allegations against him. The outcome of the hearing is yet to be determined.
