King Charles’s Visit to US Scheduled for April 27-30
A visit by King Charles to the United States is set to take place from April 27 through 30. The trip coincides with the anniversary of Virginia Giuffre’s death in April 2025, which was ruled a suicide.
Giuffre, one of the most prominent survivors of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, had previously accused him of trafficking her to Charles’s brother, Prince Andrew. Prior to his conviction, Giuffre first went public with allegations that she had been groomed and trafficked by Epstein and his partner Ghislaine Maxwell when she was a teenager.
The family of Virginia Giuffre has called on King Charles to meet with other victims during his visit. In a statement, Sky and Amanda Roberts, Giuffre’s brother and sister-in-law, expressed their hope that hearing firsthand accounts from survivors could lead to further action by the British government against Epstein’s co-conspirators.
The US Department of Justice had released the final tranche of documents related to its investigation into Epstein in recent months. The financier died in a Manhattan jail in 2019 while awaiting a federal trial on sex trafficking charges. Medical examiners ruled his death a suicide.
King Charles’s visit comes after a law passed by the US Congress, the Epstein Files Transparency Act, was signed by President Donald Trump in November. This law compelled the release of documents related to the investigation into Epstein and his social circle. The publication of over 3.5 million Epstein-related documents has led to several high-profile resignations and removals in politics and private companies, as well as a handful of arrests.
In the UK, authorities have charged former ambassador Peter Mandelson and Prince Andrew in relation to their ties with Epstein. Prince Andrew has been stripped of his military roles, patronages, and royal titles, and is now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. He has denied Giuffre’s allegations and reached an out-of-court settlement with her in 2022 without admitting wrongdoing.
