Los Angeles Lakers Suffer Defeat to Oklahoma City Thunder
The Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 139-96 at home, extending their winning streak to four games and 16 of their last 17. The Lakers’ four-game winning streak was snapped in the process.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with 28 points, while Luguentz Dort started strong on both ends of the floor and Jalen Williams contributed across the board. The Thunder controlled the game from the start, building a double-digit lead less than four minutes into the contest. They maintained this lead throughout, never dipping below nine points in the second half.
Luka Doncic suffered a strained left hamstring in the second half, which will require an MRI on Friday to determine its extent. The injury occurred when Doncic attempted a mid-range jumper and came down awkwardly, grabbing his leg and falling to the floor.
The Thunder’s victory was marked by strong performances from Dort and Williams. Dort hit five of his six shots in the first quarter, including four 3-pointers, while Williams finished with 10 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists. The Lakers’ Austin Reaves led the team with 15 points.
The Thunder’s win was their most lopsided against the Lakers this season, with a 43-point loss that is Los Angeles’ worst since November 2023.
