Lakers Take Early Lead in NBA Playoff Series Against Rockets

Los Angeles Lakers Defeat Houston Rockets 101-94 in NBA Playoff Series

The Los Angeles Lakers secured a 2-0 lead in their first-round Western Conference playoff series against the Houston Rockets, winning Game 2 by a score of 101-94. LeBron James led the Lakers with 28 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists.

Without leading scorers Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves due to injuries, the Rockets struggled to find consistency. Marcus Smart added 25 points, including five three-pointers, while Luke Kennard contributed 23 points. Kevin Durant scored 23 points for Houston but had nine turnovers and was held to just three points after halftime.

Rockets coach Ime Udoka attributed the loss to poor shooting, stating that the team’s 7-for-29 from three-point range and 8-for-20 on second-chance points were not sufficient. Despite defensive efforts, the Rockets were unable to score effectively.

The series now shifts to Houston for Game 3 on Friday. Meanwhile, the Portland Trail Blazers evened their first-round Western Conference playoff series against the San Antonio Spurs with a 106-103 win in Game 2. Scoot Henderson scored a season-best 31 points as the Trail Blazers came back from an 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter.

In another matchup, the Philadelphia 76ers bounced back to even the Eastern Conference playoff series with the Boston Celtics, winning Game 2 by a score of 123-91. The 76ers shot 19 of 39 (48.7 percent) from beyond the arc, led by Paul George’s 19 points. Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum also contributed to the win for the Celtics.
