High-Profile Lawyer Alan Jackson Resigns from Nick Reiner’s Defense Team
Lawyer Alan Jackson has stepped down as representation for 32-year-old suspect Nick Reiner, who is accused of killing his parents, director Rob Reiner and mother Michele Singer Reiner, in December. The decision was made without explanation by Jackson, citing legal and ethical reasons.
Jackson first appeared in court on behalf of Reiner just days after the deaths were discovered at their home in Brentwood, Los Angeles. The cause of death was determined to be “multiple sharp force injuries.” Reiner’s defense team had previously included producer Harvey Weinstein and actor Kevin Spacey as past clients.
Deputy Public Defender Kimberly Greene has taken over Reiner’s defense in the case. The defendant appeared in court on Wednesday, where his arraignment was postponed to February 23. Greene stated that her office recognizes the “unimaginable tragedy” faced by the Reiner family and the Los Angeles community.
The public defender’s office expressed sympathy for the family during this difficult time, asking for patience and compassion as the case moves through the legal process. The arraignment was postponed due to circumstances beyond control, with no further details provided.
