Lebanon Files Complaint with UN Over Daily Ceasefire Violations by Israel

Lebanon Files Complaint with UN Over Israeli Violations

The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants has submitted a complaint to the United Nations, alleging that Israel has breached Lebanon’s sovereignty on 2,036 occasions in the last three months of 2025. The complaint, sent on Monday, cites Israeli actions as a clear violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which ended a war between Israel and Hezbollah in 2006.

According to the ministry, the complaint includes detailed tables outlining daily breaches of Lebanese sovereignty from October to December 2025, totaling 542, 691, and 803 incidents respectively. The complaint calls on the 15-member Security Council to compel Israel to withdraw beyond its internationally recognized borders, end repeated violations of Lebanese sovereignty, and release Lebanese prisoners held by Israel.

The complaint follows recent air strikes launched by Israel across Lebanon, resulting in at least two fatalities. Despite a November 2024 ceasefire, Israeli military actions have continued, killing hundreds of people and displacing tens of thousands from their homes. Israel is also estimated to be holding over a dozen Lebanese prisoners, including Hezbollah fighters and civilians.

The Foreign Ministry in Beirut has urged pressure on Israel to stop its attacks on the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), which continues to provide security and stability to the region. This is not the first time Lebanon has filed complaints with the UN regarding Israeli actions; however, Israeli attacks have persisted despite these efforts.

In related news, Israeli drones recently dropped stun grenades in a southern Lebanese village, further escalating tensions between the two countries. The situation remains unresolved as both sides continue to engage in military actions and diplomatic efforts.
