Manchester City Draws 1-1 with West Ham United in Premier League Match
Manchester City played out a 1-1 draw against West Ham United at the London Stadium on Saturday, leaving them nine points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal. The result means Manchester City are now second in the league standings, having accumulated 61 points from 30 games.
Bernardo Silva scored for Manchester City in the 31st minute with a chip over goalkeeper Mads Hermansen, but West Ham United equalized four minutes later through Konstantinos Mavropanos’ header. The match saw both teams create few clear-cut chances, with Manchester City dominating possession in the opening stages.
Erling Haaland had a chance to score for Manchester City, but he misjudged a header from Rayan Ait-Nouri’s cross and missed his shot. West Ham United made a double change on the hour mark, introducing Rayan Cherki and Jeremy Doku, which led to a near-miss opportunity for Haaland.
The match ended with Manchester City’s Marc Guehi slicing wide in the fifth minute of added time, as West Ham United clung onto a point. The result means West Ham United have moved out of the relegation zone for the first time since December and are now 17th in the league standings with 29 points.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was serving a touchline suspension during the match, while Arsenal’s late win over Everton left Manchester City nine points behind the leaders.
