Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has signed a new contract with the club, committing him to the team until 2031. The 21-year-old player had been linked to a potential transfer away from the club following his loss of playing time under former manager Ruben Amorim. However, Mainoo’s situation changed when Michael Carrick took over as interim head coach, and he was immediately restored to the starting lineup.
Mainoo has been with Manchester United since joining their academy in 2014 and has made 98 appearances for the club, including scoring the decisive goal in the 2024 FA Cup final. He also represented England in the Euro 2024 final. In a statement, Mainoo expressed his commitment to the club, saying that “Manchester United has always been my home – this special club means everything to my family.” The club’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, praised Mainoo as one of the most “naturally gifted young footballers in the world,” citing his technical ability and dedication.
