Italian rider Marco Bezzecchi leads the MotoGP championship standings after two rounds, holding an 11-point advantage over teammate Jorge Martin. On Sunday, Bezzecchi secured his fourth consecutive win at the Brazilian MotoGP, starting from second place on the grid. He maintained the lead throughout the race and crossed the finish line first.
Bezzecchi’s victory was followed by Aprilia teammate Jorge Martin, who secured second place. VR46 rider Fabio Di Giannantonio finished third, holding off defending MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez down the stretch.
In a post-race interview, Bezzecchi attributed his success to the efforts of his team and his own adjustments to his riding style. He mentioned that the weekend had been challenging, particularly on Friday when practice was affected by rain. Despite this, he credited his team with finding a solution to improve the bike’s performance.
The race distance was reduced from 31 laps to 23 due to concerns over track degradation and high temperatures. The competition at the Ayrton Senna Circuit marked MotoGP’s return to Brazil after a 18-year absence. The event is now set to shift to North America, with the US Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, scheduled for March 27-29.
Bezzecchi dedicated his victory to his friend Roberto Lunadei, who passed away in a road traffic accident last week.
