Liverpool to Face Marseille in UEFA Champions League Match

Liverpool is set to face Marseille at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille, France on Wednesday at 9pm GMT. The match marks the penultimate league phase fixture for both teams as they vie for a spot in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League.

Currently ninth in the standings, Liverpool is seeking an automatic top-eight entry into the Round of 16. Mohamed Salah returned to training with Liverpool on Tuesday after missing the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. The Egypt forward made his comeback as a substitute in a 2-0 Premier League win against Brighton on December 13, providing an assist. Marseille’s Mason Greenwood leads the Ligue 1 2025-2026 top scorers chart with 12 goals in 17 appearances.

The match between Liverpool and Marseille will be their first encounter since the 2008-2009 season. The two clubs have played four times in Champions League history, with Liverpool holding a 3-1 edge over Marseille.
