Real Madrid Forward Kylian Mbappe to Miss Spanish Super Cup Due to Knee Injury
Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid’s French international striker, will not participate in the upcoming Spanish Super Cup tournament in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, due to a knee injury. The team has omitted Mbappe from their squad for the event.
Mbappe was diagnosed with the knee sprain last week and is expected to be sidelined for at least three weeks. Real Madrid’s coach, Xabi Alonso, had previously stated that he would do everything possible to get Mbappe back on the field as soon as feasible.
The team will face city rivals Atletico Madrid in the semifinals on Thursday, with Barcelona taking on Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday. The Spanish Super Cup is a significant tournament for Real Madrid, given their current position in La Liga, where they trail champions Barcelona by four points.
Mbappe had recently set a club record for goals scored in a calendar year, equaling Cristiano Ronaldo’s mark of 59 goals. His form has been notable, particularly compared to his strike partner Vinicius Junior, who has struggled with consistency this season.
