Conor McGregor Set to Return to Competition at UFC 329

UFC CEO Dana White has announced that Conor McGregor will compete for the first time in over five years at UFC 329 on July 11 in Las Vegas. The Irish mixed martial artist, who is currently ranked 22-6-0, will face Max Holloway in a non-title welterweight bout.

This event marks a rematch of their featherweight bout from August 2013, which McGregor won by three-round decision despite suffering a torn ACL. McGregor’s last fight took place on July 10, 2021, where he lost to Dustin Poirier via TKO after breaking his leg in the first round.

McGregor has been inactive since then, with previous return attempts cancelled due to injuries. He became the first UFC fighter to hold titles simultaneously in two weight divisions in 2016 and has a notable record of victories over Jose Aldo and Eddie Alvarez.

Holloway, who is currently ranked 27-9-0, is a former featherweight champion with wins over Justin Gaethje, Aldo (twice), Poirier, and Frankie Edgar. He has been inactive since moving to lightweight in 2025, losing his last bout to Charles Oliveira by five-round decision in March.

The main event of UFC 329 will take place during International Fight Week, marking McGregor’s highly anticipated return to competition after a prolonged absence.
