Manchester City Manager Pep Guardiola Receives Tributes Ahead of Departure

Pep Guardiola, the departing manager of Manchester City, was honored with a farewell celebration at the Co-op Live arena in Manchester on Monday. The event featured an open-top bus parade through the streets of Manchester and a sellout crowd of 19,000 fans.

During the ceremony, a video message from Michael Jordan, a six-time NBA champion, was played on the big screen. Jordan congratulated Guardiola on his career and wished him well in retirement. Guardiola also addressed the crowd, expressing gratitude for the support he received during his tenure.

The celebration marked a record-breaking decade in charge of City, during which Guardiola won 17 major trophies. The event also recognized the domestic cup double of the men’s team, as well as the club’s Women’s Super League and FA Youth Cup triumphs.

Former players Vincent Kompany and Jack Grealish attended the event in person, along with Noel Gallagher of Oasis. Record scorer Khadija “Bunny” Shaw announced on stage that she had signed a new four-year contract with City, ending speculation linking her with Chelsea.

Guardiola’s farewell speech was followed by a message from his daughter Maria, who shared a heartfelt post about him on social media. The event concluded with Guardiola thanking the fans and staff for their support during his time at the club.

The celebration comes as Guardiola leaves Manchester City after a decade in charge, during which he forged strong bonds with players, staff, and fans.
