Afghanistan’s Kabul Experiences Fatal Explosion
A blast occurred on Monday in the Shahr-e-Naw area of Kabul, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries. According to Abdul Mateen Qani, spokesperson for Afghanistan’s Interior Ministry, preliminary reports indicate a number of people were killed and injured.
The explosion took place in an area considered secure, with foreigners residing there. The incident is being investigated further by the authorities.
It has been reported that blasts in Kabul and across Afghanistan have decreased since the Taliban returned to power following the US withdrawal in 2021. However, ISIL (ISIS) affiliates continue to carry out sporadic attacks in the country.
In recent years, Afghanistan has experienced a number of suicide attacks, with two incidents recorded in 2025. The Taliban, which had waged an armed rebellion for several years, regained control and pledged to restore security in the country.
The Interior Ministry has stated that further details regarding the incident will be released at a later time.
