Afghanistan’s Kabul Experiences Blast in Shahr-e-Naw Area
A blast occurred on Monday in the Shahr-e-Naw area of Kabul, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries. According to Abdul Mateen Qani, spokesperson for the Taliban Interior Ministry, preliminary reports indicate a significant number of people were killed and injured.
The explosion took place in an area known to be home to foreigners and considered one of the most secure regions in Kabul. The details of the incident are still being released by the ministry.
It is worth noting that blasts in Kabul and across Afghanistan have decreased since the Taliban returned to power following the US withdrawal in 2021. However, ISIL affiliates remain active in the country and carry out sporadic attacks.
The incident marks a rare occurrence in recent years, as the frequency of such events has decreased significantly since the Taliban’s return to power. Further information on the blast is expected to be released by the ministry in due course.
