NASCAR Driver Kyle Busch Dies at Age 41 Due to Severe Illness

Kyle Busch, NASCAR Driver, Dies at 41

Kyle Busch, a veteran driver in NASCAR’s top division, has passed away at the age of 41. This marks his 22nd full-time season in the sport.

Busch won two Cup Series titles in 2015 and 2019. He also holds multiple records across NASCAR’s three national series, including most wins in the Cup, O’Reilly Auto Parts, and Trucks Series.

According to a statement released by Busch’s family, Richard Childress Racing, and NASCAR, Busch died after being hospitalized. The cause of death has not been disclosed.

Busch was hospitalized on Wednesday with a severe illness, three days before he was set to compete in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. He became unresponsive while testing in a Chevrolet racing simulator in Concord and was transported to a hospital in Charlotte.

Busch is survived by his wife Samantha and children Brexton and Lennix. A statement from NASCAR said, “Our entire NASCAR family is heartbroken by the loss of Kyle Busch.”

The news comes 11 days after Busch radioed into his crew near the end of a Cup Series race at Watkins Glen, asking for medical attention due to a sinus cold exacerbated by G-forces and elevation changes.

Busch’s career spanned over two decades, during which he set records in national series wins, won championships at NASCAR’s highest level, and fostered the next generation of drivers. He was known for his sharp wit and competitive spirit, which sparked a deep emotional connection with fans.

A statement from Joe Gibbs Racing said, “His impact on our organisation and on the sport of NASCAR will never be forgotten.” Busch competed at Dover last weekend and won the Trucks Series race for Spire Motorsports before finishing 17th in his final race.
