Nashville SC Advances to CONCACAF Champions Cup Quarterfinals with 1-1 Tie Against Inter Miami

In a match that saw both teams level on aggregate, Nashville SC advanced to the CONCACAF Champions Cup quarterfinals after defeating Inter Miami 1-0 in the away-goals tiebreaker. The match, played at Inter Miami’s home stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, ended 1-1 on Wednesday night.

Lionel Messi opened the scoring for Nashville in the seventh minute, netting his 900th career goal for club and country. However, Inter Miami was unable to find an equalizer despite numerous chances. The rebound from a blocked shot by Alex Muyl fell to Cristian Espinoza, who scored the winning goal in the second half.

The match marked a milestone night for Messi, who moved into second place on the all-time list of career goals behind only Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese star has 965 career goals.

In other CONCACAF Champions Cup news, Club America advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating Philadelphia Union 1-0 in Mexico City. Rodrigo Dourado scored the winning goal for Club America in the sixth minute, following a free kick from Raphael Veiga. The Union equalized on a penalty kick from Jesus Bueno in the 49th minute but were unable to find another goal despite numerous chances.

Nashville SC will now face either Philadelphia Union or Club America in the quarterfinals.
