US Department of Justice Releases Three Million Files Related to Jeffrey Epstein
The US Department of Justice has released over three million pages of documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The release, which began on January 30, provides a vast amount of information about Epstein’s social and financial circle, including connections to powerful individuals.
Epstein was an American financier who used his wealth and influence to orchestrate a decade-long sex trafficking ring involving dozens of underage girls. The files released by the DOJ include email chains, text messages, internal investigative reports, news articles, and other material related to Epstein.
The release is part of the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which requires the DOJ to make all unclassified records related to Epstein and his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell available within 30 days. The act was signed into law in November 2025.
The released documents total six million pages, including 180,000 images and 2,000 videos. They are organized into 12 separate data sets, each containing different categories of evidence.
Epstein’s background is also being made public through the release. Born on January 20, 1953, in Brooklyn, New York, Epstein was hired to teach physics and mathematics at an elite private institution at the age of 21. He later founded his own financial management and consulting firm, which serviced ultra-wealthy clients.
The files also reveal connections between Epstein and powerful figures across politics, business, royalty, and academia. In 1991, Epstein met Ghislaine Maxwell, who became his primary coconspirator. The two were romantically involved, and she played a key role in the sex trafficking ring.
In 2005, an investigation was launched into Epstein after allegations of abuse surfaced. The FBI later identified 36 girls who were minors at the time of their abuse. In 2007, federal prosecutors prepared a draft indictment against Epstein, but a non-prosecution agreement was signed, granting immunity to Epstein and his coconspirators.
The release of these files provides a significant amount of information about Epstein’s case and is expected to shed more light on the sex trafficking ring he orchestrated.
