New Report Explores 2025 Mission to Break Gaza Siege with Strict Rules

Two filmmakers embark on the Global Sumud Flotilla, a humanitarian effort to deliver aid to Gaza.

In September 2025, fifty civilian vessels set sail from Barcelona, Tunis, and Sicily as part of the flotilla. The mission aims to establish a humanitarian corridor to Gaza. Among those participating are Carlos Perez from Mexico and Juliet Lamont from Australia, who are on board the Hio and Wahoo respectively.

The flotilla’s journey is marked by varying conditions, including encounters with Israeli authorities. Israel has warned of an active combat zone, prompting the boats to proceed despite the risks. However, the situation took a turn for the worse when water cannons were deployed, causing ships to temporarily disappear from radar. Crew members were subsequently arrested.

The Global Sumud Flotilla is documented in the film “The Flotilla Diaries” by Dasa Raimanova. The documentary provides firsthand accounts of the experiences of Carlos and Juliet, who share their perspectives on the challenges they faced during the flotilla’s journey.
