North Korean Leader Unveils Housing for Families of Fallen Soldiers
Pyongyang, North Korea - North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has opened a new housing district in Pyongyang, specifically designed for families of soldiers who have died while fighting overseas.
The Saeppyol Street development was inaugurated by Kim, who described it as “a source of honour for our generation and a pride of Pyongyang and our state.” According to reports, the project was completed ahead of schedule, with Kim stating that he had pushed to finish it earlier in order to bring some comfort to the families of the fallen soldiers.
The unveiling of the housing district comes amid North Korea’s ongoing support for Russia’s war in Ukraine. While the exact nature of this support is not clear, reports suggest that Pyongyang has dispatched thousands of soldiers to Ukraine and has received military aid from Moscow in return.
Photographs released by state-run news agency KCNA show Kim visiting families of fallen soldiers and consoling them at their new homes. The development is seen as a gesture of goodwill towards the families of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
The rollout of the housing district comes ahead of North Korea’s upcoming party congress, which is expected to take place later this month.
