Norways Prime Minister says US President Trump is preoccupied with Nobel Peace Prize

Norway’s Prime Minister Responds to Trump’s Comments on Nobel Peace Prize

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre has addressed US President Donald Trump’s recent comments regarding the Nobel Peace Prize. According to reports, Trump had sent a text message stating that since Norway “decided not to” award him the prize, he was no longer obligated to consider it as a factor in his decision-making process.

In response, Prime Minister Støre clarified that the selection of the Nobel Peace Prize is an independent process carried out by a committee. The Norwegian government does not have direct involvement in the decision-making process.

Støre’s office released a statement reiterating that the Nobel Committee’s decisions are final and not subject to external influence or pressure. The Prime Minister also emphasized that Norway values its relationship with the United States, but will not compromise on its national interests or principles.

Trump had previously expressed interest in receiving the Nobel Peace Prize, citing his efforts to promote peace and stability through diplomatic means. However, he had also stated that if he were not awarded the prize, he would be free to focus solely on issues related to US control of Greenland.

The Norwegian government has maintained its position on the issue, with Støre’s office stating that Norway will continue to prioritize its national interests and sovereignty in all its dealings.
