The 98th Academy Awards will take place at the Dolby Theatre on March 15, with the ceremony scheduled to begin at 4pm West Coast time in the United States (23:00 GMT). The event will be held in Los Angeles and will feature actors, directors, and filmmakers from around the world competing for prestigious awards.
The ceremony is set to coincide with ongoing global tensions, including the war in Iran. Host Conan O’Brien has stated that his role is to balance entertainment with acknowledging reality.
Details of the ceremony include official red carpet coverage beginning at 3:30pm (22:30 GMT), as well as broadcast on US television channel ABC and streaming live on platforms such as Hulu. The ceremony will also be available through various live TV streaming services, including Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, AT&T TV, and FuboTV.
The Academy has announced that it will sever its relationship with ABC in 2029, instead streaming the Oscars exclusively on YouTube. This change marks a significant shift for the Academy Awards, which have traditionally aired on ABC since 1976.
O’Brien will host his second consecutive year emceeing the ceremony, stating that he believes having fun and staying present is key to success on the Oscar stage. He has also confirmed that his writing team is refining the material ahead of the show to keep it current.
The red carpet will feature several shows, including British comedian Amelia Dimoldenberg as the official Oscars social media correspondent for the third year. Last year’s acting winners will return to present awards at the ceremony, alongside a range of actors and filmmakers presenting throughout the night.
