Lebanon Reports Increased Death Toll from Israeli Attacks
The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health reported that the death toll from Israeli attacks on Lebanon has risen to at least 123 people, according to a statement released on Thursday. The ministry also stated that 683 individuals have been wounded.
Israeli air strikes were reported in several towns in southern Lebanon, including Srifa, Aita al-Shaab, Touline, as-Sawana, and Majdal Selem. Another strike hit the eastern Lebanese town of Douris at dawn.
Hezbollah issued a warning to Israeli residents living within 5km of their northern border, urging them to evacuate the area. The group claimed responsibility for attacks on Israeli ground forces in several areas, including Maroun al-Ras and Kfar Kila, within Lebanese territory.
Israel has stated that it will not evacuate its border towns and has sent more soldiers into Lebanon, citing a defensive measure to protect its citizens. In contrast, tens of thousands of people have fled their homes after receiving threats from Israel, with many seeking shelter on Beirut’s beaches.
The humanitarian crisis is growing rapidly, with hundreds of displaced families left without adequate shelter. The Lebanese government has opened several shelters and advised people to head to the north of the country. However, many individuals lack access to transportation, including Syrian refugees and Palestinian refugees who live in Beirut’s southern suburbs.
Hezbollah also attacked Israel’s Yoav military camp in the occupied Golan Heights and a navy base in Israel’s Haifa port, according to a statement on Telegram. There were no immediate reports of casualties from these attacks.
