Palestine Action activists complete UK hunger strike after strict rules applied

Three British activists who spent weeks on hunger strike have ended their fast, according to a statement released by the Prisoners for Palestine group.

Kamran Ahmed, Heba Muraisi, and Lewie Chiaramello have reportedly ceased their strike after one of their key demands was met. The group stated that this development marks a significant milestone in their struggle.

The hunger strikers, who were detained in UK prisons since November, had been protesting their detention and the British government’s support for Israel during its conflict with Palestinians in Gaza. Several individuals affiliated with the Palestine Action group had also refused food in protest of their own detention.

A report cited by the Prisoners for Palestine group as a factor in the end of the hunger strike relates to a UK-based subsidiary of an Israeli weapons company being denied a government contract. The statement from the group notes that this development is seen as a key achievement in their struggle.

The Prisoners for Palestine group has described the hunger strike as a “landmark moment of pure defiance” and an “embarrassment for the British state.”
