A Palestinian man, Nayef Samaro, 26, was fatally shot by an Israeli soldier in Nablus on Tuesday.
Samaro had left his workplace to attend to personal errands for his wife, who was scheduled to give birth via C-section at a nearby hospital. The birth was expected to take place hours later.
Eyewitnesses report that Samaro was shot in the head by an Israeli soldier while he was in the street. He suffered fatal injuries and died shortly thereafter.
The incident occurred during an Israeli army raid on Nablus, which took place earlier in the day. However, it is unclear whether the shooting was directly related to the ongoing military operation.
Samaro’s wife gave birth to their first son a few hours after his death. The newborn baby boy did not have the opportunity to meet his father.
The circumstances surrounding Samaro’s killing are currently under investigation by Israeli authorities.
