Panini Unveils World Cup Sticker Collection with 980 Unique Stickers
Italian company Panini has released its latest sticker collection for the upcoming World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The collection features 980 unique stickers, including 68 “special” ones, which will be included in a 112-page album.
The album is available starting Thursday, and individual packets of seven stickers retail at £1.25 ($1.69) in the UK. To complete the set, fans would need to purchase approximately 140 packets, totaling £175. However, statistically, it’s estimated that over 1,000 packets may be required to acquire every player in the album, resulting in a potential outlay of £1,351.
Panini has hosted a special event at Wembley Stadium to launch its biggest-ever collection, featuring former England players David James, John Barnes, and Gary Cahill. The event aimed to relive their sticker-hunting days and share their experiences with fans.
The company will also be hosting a live “swap shop” in May around the UK, allowing collectors to find their must-have players. Additionally, a “Sticker Box” will travel across the country, giving away sticker packets and albums.
For those who complete the set, there is a growing market for vintage stickers. In 2021, a rare Panini sticker of Diego Maradona sold for £470,000 at auction.
