The US Department of War has released a batch of previously secret files documenting reports of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAPs), also commonly referred to as UFOs. The files were made available through the Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters, or PURSUE.
According to the Pentagon, the release includes documents from 2004 to 2021, covering a range of sightings reported by military personnel and civilians. The files are part of a larger collection of UAP reports that were previously classified as “unidentified” but have since been declassified.
The release comes after years of pressure from lawmakers and advocacy groups seeking greater transparency on the topic of UAPs. In 2020, the US government officially acknowledged the existence of UAP sightings by military personnel, and since then, there has been an increase in efforts to gather more information about these incidents.
The files released today include reports from Texas dating back to 1948, as well as sightings from other locations around the world. The Pentagon has stated that it will continue to release more information on UAPs in the coming months.
The release of these files is part of a broader effort by the US government to shed light on the topic of UAPs and to provide greater transparency to the public.
