Real Madrid Secures 2-0 Win Over Espanyol in La Liga
Real Madrid earned a crucial 2-0 victory over Espanyol in La Liga on Sunday, with Brazilian winger Vinicius Jr. scoring both goals in the second half. The win kept Real Madrid’s slim title hopes alive, moving them to within 11 points of leaders Barcelona.
The match took place at RCD Espanyol’s home stadium, where Real Madrid was missing several key players, including Kylian Mbappe, Arda Guler, Thibaut Courtois, and Eder Militao. Despite the absences, Real Madrid controlled the game from the start and had several chances to take an early lead.
In the 55th minute, Vinicius Jr. scored the opening goal after a fine one-two with teammate Gonzalo. The Brazilian winger collected a return pass inside the area, cut towards the center, and finished low in off the post. He added his second goal in the 66th minute, guiding a first-time effort into the top corner after a slick exchange with Jude Bellingham.
The win marked an otherwise stodgy performance by Real Madrid, but it provided a much-needed boost to their title aspirations. With four matches remaining, Barcelona leads the standings on 88 points, and Real Madrid will look to close the gap when they host the leaders at Camp Nou next Sunday in a highly anticipated Clasico match.
