Mixed Martial Arts Fighters Set for Highly-Anticipated Bout on Netflix
A highly-anticipated mixed martial arts fight between former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) star Ronda Rousey and pioneering women’s MMA fighter Gina Carano is scheduled to take place on May 16, 2026. The event will be part of the first MMA card to air on Netflix and will feature a heavyweight matchup between Francis Ngannou and Philipe Lins, as well as a fight between Nate Diaz and Mike Perry.
The main card is set to begin at approximately 9pm Eastern time, with the preliminaries starting at around 6pm Eastern time. The event will be streamed globally on Netflix, while preliminary fights will be available on Tudum.
Rousey, 39, and Carano, 44, both have a strong background in MMA, with Rousey winning six consecutive UFC fights and Carano being one of the first women to headline a major MMA event. The fight is scheduled for five five-minute rounds, with fighters wearing 4-ounce gloves and adhering to the Unified Rules of MMA.
Rousey retired from MMA after back-to-back defeats in 2015 and 2016, citing her need to prioritize her health due to increasing concussion susceptibility. She has since pursued acting and professional wrestling careers, as well as marriage and two children. Carano, on the other hand, has had a successful acting career, most notably as Cara Dune in The Mandalorian.
The fight is expected to be highly competitive, with Rousey currently favored at -600 odds. According to Carano, she is taking on Rousey to win and revive her fighting legacy, which she believes was overlooked during her initial retirement.
