The remains of a second missing University of South Florida (USF) student have been recovered near the Courtney Campbell Causeway bridge in the Tampa Bay area. The remains were identified through DNA analysis.
According to officials, the victim is believed to be one of two USF students who went missing in recent days. A suspect has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with both disappearances.
Sheriff’s Office officials have described the murders as “calculated and pre-meditated.” The investigation into the incidents is ongoing, but no further details have been released at this time.
The discovery of the remains was made by kayakers who stumbled upon them while paddling in the area. The body has been taken to a medical examiner’s office for further analysis.
