US Secretary of State and National Security Adviser Marco Rubio has stated that the Trump administration does not intend or expect to take military action in Venezuela again.
During a hearing before the US Congress, Rubio clarified the administration’s stance on potential military intervention in the country. He emphasized that no such actions are currently planned or anticipated.
However, Rubio did acknowledge that certain scenarios could potentially alter the government’s position. Specifically, he mentioned the possibility of an Iranian drone factory operating in Venezuela as one such scenario that could prompt a reevaluation of the administration’s approach.
Rubio’s comments were made in response to questions from lawmakers regarding the Trump administration’s policy towards Venezuela. The administration has taken various steps to address the country’s political and economic situation, including imposing sanctions on Venezuelan officials and providing humanitarian assistance to affected populations.
The US government’s stance on military intervention in Venezuela remains unchanged, with Rubio confirming that no such actions are currently being considered or planned. Nevertheless, the possibility of certain scenarios unfolding could potentially lead to a reassessment of the administration’s approach.
