Senegal expresses concerns over perceived unfairness in upcoming AFCON match

Senegal’s National Football Federation Files Formal Complaints Ahead of Africa Cup of Nations Final

The Senegalese Football Federation has issued a statement expressing concerns over the treatment of its national football team in Morocco ahead of Sunday’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final. The federation has made several complaints, including issues with security arrangements for the team’s arrival, problems with accommodation, and difficulties obtaining fair ticket allocation for supporters.

According to the federation, Senegal’s players experienced a “clear lack of adequate security measures” upon their arrival in Rabat by train from Tangier on Friday. The team was also required to file a formal written complaint to secure suitable hotel accommodation after its initial offer was deemed insufficient.

The federation has notified the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and local organising committee of its concerns, requesting that corrective measures be taken to ensure respect for fair play, equal treatment, and security. Senegal’s players were initially denied access to training facilities at the Mohammed VI Complex, which is also used by Morocco’s team.

The federation has expressed disappointment with the ticketing situation, stating that only 2,850 tickets could be purchased for supporters, despite high demand. The capacity of the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, where the final will take place, is 69,500 fans.

A spokesperson for the Senegalese Football Federation stated that the complaints were made in the interest of transparency and to defend the interests of the national team. The federation has called on CAF and local authorities to address these concerns before Sunday’s match.
