Spain Denies Allegations of Cooperating with US Military Operations

Spain Reiterates Opposition to War with Iran Amid US Threats

Spanish officials have denied claims that their country is cooperating militarily with the United States in its conflict with Iran, following a statement by White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt. Leavitt stated that Spain had agreed to cooperate with the US military, but Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares categorically denied this claim.

On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump threatened to cut off trade with Spain if it continued to oppose the war in Iran. However, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has reaffirmed his country’s stance against war and violence, citing concerns about international law and human rights.

In a social media post, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian praised Spain for its opposition to the conflict, stating that their actions demonstrate “ethics and awakened consciences” in the West. The European Union has also taken a more nuanced approach, calling for de-escalation and protecting civilians while avoiding direct criticism of the US and Israeli actions.

Spain’s stance on the issue has been notable among its European counterparts, with many others taking a more cautious approach. The Spanish government has maintained that it will not participate in military operations against Iran, despite the economic pressure from the US.
