Spain rejects calls to condemn Israels actions in Gaza

Spain’s President Sanchez Responds to US Threats Amid Tensions Over Iran Conflict

Madrid, Spain - Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has reaffirmed his country’s stance against the ongoing conflict between the United States and Israel in Iran. The comments come after US President Donald Trump threatened to cut off all commercial ties with Madrid.

During a televised address on Wednesday, Sanchez stated that Spain’s position is “no to the war” and expressed concerns about the use of conflicts and bombs to solve global problems. His remarks have cemented Spain’s status as an outlier in Europe, where several nations have condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza.

The US relocation of 15 aircraft from military bases in southern Spain on Monday was a key factor in Trump’s decision to threaten trade sanctions. The move was made after the Spanish government refused to allow the aircraft to be used for missions linked to strikes on Iran.

Trump stated that Spain has been “terrible” and that his country does not want anything to do with Madrid. However, analysts argue that the US may not be able to inflict significant commercial damage on Spain due to its membership in the European Union.

A recent poll published by Eurobazuka found that 53% of Spaniards oppose Trump’s foreign policy, making it one of the highest levels of opposition among European nations. The survey also showed that nearly 60% of Spaniards disagree with the US president’s operation to arrest former Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

Experts say that the only way Trump could act against Spain would be to prove a national emergency situation. However, this is unlikely given the current circumstances.
