Spanish Cyclist Jaume Guardeno Suffers Head Injury in Training Crash
Jaume Guardeno, a 23-year-old Spanish cyclist, has been hospitalized with serious injuries after a training crash on Tuesday. According to his team, Caja Rural-RGA, Guardeno lost control of his bike while riding and collided with a vehicle, resulting in the head injury.
Guardeno was taken by helicopter to Hospital Tauli in Sabadell, where he is currently receiving intensive care treatment. His condition is being closely monitored by medical staff.
Caja Rural-RGA released a statement expressing their support for Guardeno and his family during this time. “We want to express our support and strength to Jaume and his family as they navigate this challenging situation,” the team said.
Meanwhile, Richard Carapaz, a former Olympic champion, has undergone surgery for a perineal condition in preparation for the upcoming Giro d’Italia. Despite the setback, Carapaz aims to be fit and compete for a fourth podium finish in the race.
Carapaz posted on Instagram that he is now focused on his recovery and getting back to peak condition ahead of the Giro. He had previously missed the Tour de France and Vuelta a Espana due to illness last year, but remains committed to competing at the highest level.
Guardeno’s injury has sparked concern among cycling fans, while Carapaz’s determination to compete in the Giro is being closely watched by racing enthusiasts.
