Spurs even series with Timberwolves after comeback win in NBA playoffs

San Antonio Spurs Defeat Minnesota Timberwolves 133-95 in Western Conference Semifinal Series

The San Antonio Spurs secured a crucial win in their Western Conference semifinal series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, defeating them 133-95 on Wednesday. The victory leveled the series at one game apiece.

In the second quarter, the Spurs surged ahead, expanding their initial seven-point lead to a 24-point advantage by halftime. By the end of the third period, they had increased their margin to 98-63. The team continued to dominate in the final quarters, building their lead to as many as 47 points.

Stephon Castle led the Spurs with 21 points, while Victor Wembanyama contributed 19 points and 15 rebounds. Julian Champagnie scored all of his points via four three-pointers during the third quarter.

The Spurs’ second-seeded status has not been tested in consecutive losses since January 11 at Minnesota and January 13 at Oklahoma City, a stretch of 49 games. Wembanyama attributed the team’s improvement to their early intensity, crashing the offensive boards and passing to open teammates.

Meanwhile, the New York Knicks took control of their Eastern Conference semifinal series against the Philadelphia 76ers with an 108-102 win in Game 2. The Knicks lead the best-of-seven set series 2-0.

In the fourth quarter, Jalen Brunson scored eight of his 26 points to help the Knicks secure the victory. Karl-Anthony Towns produced 20 points and 10 rebounds despite playing just 27 minutes due to foul trouble. OG Anunoby had 24 points before exiting the game with a right leg injury.

The 76ers, led by Tyrese Maxey’s 26 points, struggled in the fourth quarter, managing just 12 points on 4-of-19 shooting. The team will host Game 3 and 4 on Saturday and Sunday.
