Sri Lanka takes steps to safeguard lives following US naval attack incident

Sri Lanka Prepares for Potential Iranian Ship Incident

A second Iranian warship is en route to an area near Sri Lanka’s coast, where a US submarine recently sank an Iranian frigate, killing dozens of sailors in international waters. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of the new vessel.

According to Sri Lankan officials, the ship is reported to be carrying over 100 crew members and is heading towards the same region where the US submarine attacked the Iranian warship. Sri Lanka’s cabinet spokesperson, Nalinda Jayatissa, stated that the country is taking steps to “safeguard lives” in relation to the new vessel.

The incident has sparked tensions between Iran and the United States, with both countries involved in a broader conflict in the Middle East. The US military has claimed responsibility for the sinking of the Iranian frigate, which resulted in the deaths of over 80 people and left dozens missing.

Iranian officials have condemned the attack, with Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stating that the US will “come to bitterly regret” the incident. General Kioumars Heydari, a commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, has vowed to fight Americans wherever they are.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka is preparing for the potential arrival of the second Iranian warship. Authorities in the southern port city of Galle have made preparations to receive the remains of 87 Iranian sailors who were killed in the torpedo attack. Thirty-two rescued Iranians are being treated at a local hospital under tight security provided by police and elite commandos.

The Sri Lankan government has taken steps to ensure public safety, despite not taking a direct stance on the conflict. The country’s navy is continuing its search for missing Iranian sailors, while officials monitor the situation closely.
