Sudan Condemns RSF Chiefs Visit to Uganda Over Human Values Comments

Uganda Hosts RSF Commander Amid Controversy

The Ugandan Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that Mohamed Dagalo, also known as “Hemedti”, met with President Yoweri Museveni on Friday to discuss ending the ongoing conflict in Sudan. The meeting was attended by Dagalo, who is the head of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a group accused by rights groups and international organizations of war crimes and targeting civilians in Sudan.

Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned Uganda for hosting Dagalo, calling it an “insult” to humanity and the Sudanese people. The foreign ministry stated that the reception of Dagalo is a disregard for human values and ignores the lives lost due to his group’s actions.

The US Department of the Treasury has imposed sanctions on three RSF commanders over their alleged roles in the 18-month siege and capture of el-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State. A UN mission found that the RSF campaign in el-Fasher was a “planned and organised operation that bears the defining characteristics of genocide”.

Uganda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement saying Dagalo’s meeting with Museveni focused on ending the conflict in Sudan and restoring regional stability. The Ugandan president reiterated his commitment to peace, calling for dialogue and prioritizing shared interests over identity politics.

Dagalo thanked Museveni and expressed his support for the Ugandan president’s principles and commitment to peace. He stated that Sudan faces serious humanitarian challenges due to the conflict and emphasized the need for a peaceful resolution.
